HAUL DRESSED UP: Birthday Presents!

So, a couple of weeks ago IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY. I am now old.

To soothe the pain of the passing of time, or whatever, my nearest and dearest blessed me with LOVELY and EXCITING PRESENTS. Now that I’ve finally stopped mourning my lost youth, I’m going to tell you about some of them.

Laura Mercier Ambre Vanillé Eau de Gourmande

There are no words for how good this smells. I’ve always loved vanilla scents, but this is a grown-up version, with that same lovely sweetness over the top but some darker, smokier notes. Every single time I’ve worn this someone has asked what smells so nice, and I get to say, “IT’S ME YOU GUYS, IT’S ME.”

Laura Mercier Ambre Vanillé Honey Bath

I saw this in a video by Fleur de Force about a million years ago and was super excited by the adorable little honey stick you use to whisk it into your bathwater, and then promptly forgot about it until my amazing family surprised me with it for my birthday. It smells just as divine as the perfume, only this time you can LITERALLY BATHE IN IT. It makes my skin lovely and soft too, and the little honey stick is just as much fun as it looks.

Polka Dot Scrunchie

I adore scrunchies; they are brilliant and I will not hear a word against them. Look how cute this one is. Look.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb

There’s someone in my office who wears this, and basically every time I see her (smell her?!) I ask what she’s wearing, and she rolls her eyes and says, “we’ve had this conversation.” Well now that’s all over, because when I’m not being Laura Mercier smoky and delicious, I too am being Viktor & Rolf sexy and floral. I adore this scent, and I adore the gorgeous little bottle, and perfume is just really great and I love it.

Accessorize Clutch Bag/Initial Keyring

I love bags very much, but my clutch collection is kind of lacking. OR WAS. This one is a great size and a beautiful pale gold that will go with everything. It’s got a little card holder pocket on the inside so you’ll always be able to find what you need in a hurry. At the same time, I was also given this keyring with a big ol’ N on it (I have an enormous obsession with things with my initials on), which I was somewhat embarrassingly excited about and promptly attached to the zip.

Accessorize Nail Polishes

GLITTER GLITTER I LOVE GLITTER. The bronze has been on my toes for a week and I’m obsessed.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

This was my present from Poppy and it’s the best. It’ll show up in a favourites post pretty soon so I won’t say too much here, but I adore Nars and I adore Poppy and what a great present; yay everything.

Stylfile

This is a kitschy nail file, developed by That Guy Off The Apprentice. It’s curved, to make shaping nails easier, and also has an attached cuticle pusher and (incredibly sharp and kind of lethal) pointy thing to get the gross stuff out from under your nails. Bit random, but I kind of love it, and it definitely makes it easier to avoid those annoying sharp corners when shaping your nails.

Clarins Sensitive Skin Beauty Repair Concentrate

Bit of a mouthful, this one, but also a holy grail product for anyone with very sensitive skin. I’ve been after it for ages because of all the amazing things I’ve heard it can do for people with skin like mine and I’ve not been disappointed. It’s on the pricey side, so I’ll be saving it for emergencies, but I’m super grateful to be able to count it in my skincare arsenal.

I had a beautiful birthday; huge thanks to everyone who came to have incredibly wholesome and not at all alcohol-induced fun with me and everyone who showered me with these beautiful presents. I am going to smell so good and be so glittery and radiant all year. Except right now, because I haven’t showered yet today and I’m in my pyjamas.
